Initially established in 1930 by Antonis Benakis, who later donated it to the Greek state, the Museum is now a network of several buildings across Athens showcasing the development of Greek culture. The museum’s exhibitions display highly diverse collections with over 500,000 artworks, four archives, the largest museum library in Greece, as well as rare photographs and documents. Every year, the Benaki Museum hosts numerous temporary exhibitions, cultural events, theater and dance performances, screenings, festivals, concerts, conferences, as well as educational programs.
